I represent a group that is working on saving another piece of Red Wing’s rich history.  In 1903 the Red Wing Motor Company began making motors for watercraft and industrial use.  For over 60 years up to 250 employees worked at their headquarters on Levee Road building world class motors.  Now we need your help to tell their story.

Our group, Red Wing Marine Museum, has acquired more than 35 of the original Red Wing motors along with other historic Mississippi River artifacts.  We are in the process of renovating a building and creating displays to better show residents, children and visitors, this nugget of Red Wing history.  Working with the City of Red Wing, our group has leased the former Water Works building at 935 Levee Road to house the Red Wing Marine Museum. This building (now part of the National Register of Historic Places) is adjacent to the river and was originally built in 1865 with local limestone and local craftsman.

Consider giving a tax deductible donation to our 501c3 non-profit, Red Wing Marine Museum, and help us with this worthy endeavor.  All donations of $5,000.00 or more will be honored and recognized with an engraved nameplate on display at the Museum entrance.

The Board of Directors of the Red Wing Marine Museum include:

  • Greg Genz
  • Marisa Kinney
